We are witnessing a huge race for Enterprises to migrate their IT applications and services to the Cloud, improving efficiencies and making their businesses more competitive. However, we desperately need standards to fuel and support this next phase of growth. Our speaker James Walker will discuss the thrilling opportunities and perilous challenges facing Enterprises and Cloud Providers, and explain how the industry needs collaborate to address and resolve these issues.

Interop Thursday OpenCloud Conference Session:

Interop “Future Tech” track:

Opportunity to participate in the OpenCloud conference session chaired by Bob Mandeville (see below):

11am to 11:15am

Keynote: Sunil Khandekar, CEO, Nuage Networks
“2020 – a glimpse through the Cloud”

Sunil Khandekar

Sunil leads the vision and direction at Nuage Networks – Alcatel Lucent’s spearhead into the Cloud market (as the name suggests). Last year he highlighted the turning point in network virtualization – the point where customers stop asking what SDN is and start asking what it can do. But still the focus lies on the network, the structure of the Cloud, rather than seeing application delivery as the product – we are seeing the trees, and not the wood. So let’s jump ahead to 2020, when the dust has settled and see what the world will look like. This is not some pie in the sky fantasy, but a vision based on Sunil’s in depth experience – not just experience of Cloud technology but the way the industry is responding to it, the way expectations and business models are evolving. Following his keynote Sunil joins an industry panel discussion chaired by Bob Mandeville.

11:15am to 11:45am

Panel discussion chaired by Bob Mandeville, President, Iometrix & OpenCloud Lab
“The Path to an Open Cloud Eco System”

Bob Mandeville

Who will be blazing the trail towards Sunil’s “20/20 vision”? High on the list will be the OpenCloud Project team, dedicated to promoting a truly open and fertile Cloud eco-system –one that avoids the snares of proprietary fragmentation. No-one knows this better than Bob Mandeville who oversees the OpenCloud Lab where cutting edge Cloud technologies and concepts are being put through their paces. He will introduce a panel of key OCP members, including specialists in the contentious security and testing Cloud challenges. Sunil has just given us food for thought – what does our team think of his vision? How real is it, and how best will it be realised?

Panellists:

•         Mehmet Toy, Distinguished Engineer, Comcast

•         Vinay Saxena, Chief Architect NFV, HP Networking

•         Neil Anderson, CMO, Hubble

•         Sunil Khandekar, CEO, Nuage Networks

•         Abhitesh Kastuar, General Manager Cloud & IP, Spirent Communications

•         Hongwen Zhang, CEO, Wedge Networks.
